Rockwood is a small village that has been growing each year, with many historic buildings built in the 1800s that are still being used today for quaint bakeries shops and restaurants and historic homes. The Eramosa River which runs right through Rockwood is the reason why Rockwood exists today. As a growing community, Rockwood real estate varies from country homes to historic to new builds offering a style for many.
Rockwood is the main community in the township in Guelph/Eramosa with a population of just over 12,000, surrounded by smaller communities like Brucedale, Ariss, Eden Mills and Oakvile to name a few.
Rockwood is best known for its conservation area – a park with lakes, karst formations and caves. The Rockwood Conservation Area was at one time a limestone extraction site and is now a popular place for swimming, hiking, canoeing, picnicking and camping, it has over 65,000 visitors a year.
Rockwood has its yearly Parade Of Lights at Christmas time. “If you come to the parade, you’ll see thousands of Christmas lights shining brightly, along with garlands, ribbons and bows, Christmas trees fully decorated, and all the things you’d expect to see in a Santa Claus Parade. But remember, this parade is different, as each float will be farm-oriented.”
